Summer Wardrobe Essentials with Very

It’s officially summer (despite the rain that hasn’t stopped in the last week!) which means time to get those summer essentials ready for when the sun does finally arrive. This year, I’ve pushed myself to wear things that I haven’t worn before, as well as opting for some of my old favourite styles that I know to work for me. Here are my summer wardrobe essentials and everything is from Very.

Denim Shorts

I’ve always steered away from shorts because my legs don’t even come close to the legs you see in magazines or on Love Island. I’m usually not bothered about them but when you have them on show all of a sudden, the insecurities can set in. Well, not this year my lovelies! These frayed hem denim shorts are amazing. They’re super comfortable and stretchy. I’d say they’re a little generous in size too. Shorts are a staple for any summer wardrobe and it’s amazing that I haven’t worn any until now. So guess what? I’m on the lookout for more shorts. I don’t care what other people think of my legs… I mean why should it? To be honest the shorts are so fab they’ll be the attraction anyway!

Midi Skirts

Thought midi skirts were frumpy? Think again! These days, midi skirts worn with tucked in tee’s give a super chilled vibe. It’s that effortlessly chic look that we all love. This red spotted skirt is a great example. It’s pretty and bright, the perfect length to hide chub rub shorts and is light and airy. Whether you’re walking along the beach or running after kids in the school holidays, it’s a perfect, comfortable wardrobe staple.

Kimonos have always been a wardrobe staple of mine, especially in summer. I used to use them as a little comfort blanket to cover my arms etc. But now, I wear them because they look brilliant. They’re usually super bright and really comfortable. They’re super versatile too so can be worn with shorts, jeans, over swimwear or dresses. The list goes on.

I love this kimono from V by Very Curve. It’s a longer length compared to what I would usually get but it works perfectly with my shorts. If I manage to get to a beach this year, this is a great option for wearing over swimwear too because of the length and the gorgeous yellow colour will look gorgeous in the sunshine.

Floral Dresses

An old favourite of mine and a wardrobe staple that I can always rely on. A bright floral dress. It just works for me, and pretty much most people. Opt for a super bright one that makes you feel happy. It might sound silly but colours can change your mood! It’s true! This crossover tropical dress from Very is pretty generous in size and perfect for the warm weather. Lightweight and slight angel sleeves mean it super comfortable too!

Slogan Tees

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know I love nothing more than a good slogan tee. In my opinion, they’re comfortable, easy to wear and so versatile. I also think if you wear a positive slogan on your top, it kind of reminds you to think positively throughout the day too. Cheesy? Maybe. But still one of my must-have summer essentials! Opt for a fresh white tee that’ll pair up with almost anything – jeans, skirts, shorts… the list goes on!

Those are my top summer wardrobe essentials, they’re the things I enjoy wearing the most and what makes me feel the most confident when I’m wearing them! Let me know what your summer must-haves are!
