Sorting Out Your Holiday Hang-ups with Simply Be

We’re still in the summer season and with lot’s of late holidays still to be taken and fun to be had. But I know how it feels when your holiday hang-ups ruin your trip and you spend to much time worrying about how you look than actually having an amazing holiday! The lovely Simply Be Perks Panel submitted questions to the Simply Be team about their holiday hang-ups. I really resonate with lots of them. One of the hang-ups that I really wanted to help with was ‘How Do I Cover My Arms?’. Well, I have A LOT to say about this.

#1 – Holiday Hang-Up – How Do I Cover My Arms?

First up, I covered my arms for 4 years and refused to take my cardigan off even when it was the middle of summer and the air con had broken in the office! I just felt an overwhelming sense of embarrassment at the size of my arms. Anyway, I hated covering them because it was so hot and I just felt like I was drawing more attention to myself! So slowly, as my general confidence increased, I started to show my arms. Guess what? THE WORLD DIDN’T END!

I know it can be quite daunting to get your arms out or to wear short sleeves. The fear comes from caring too much about what other people think of you. Honestly, when you stop caring, your life will change. I mean in the big scheme of things, so what if Doris on the deckchair next to you thinks you have big arms? SO WHAT?

However, it’s easier said than done, isn’t it? So here are a few tips that I’ve used to help me lose my ‘arm insecurity’ and live my best life at home and on holiday.

I originally started with kimonos as a way of keeping covered up but not too much. They were still bright and colourful and I didn’t feel like an idiot. But truth be told, wearing a kimono EVERY day is still stifling. So one of the best fashion finds of my whole entire life has been the Bardot style tops or dresses. They cover the tops of my arms but show my shoulders. I feel like I’m covered enough to help my insecurities but have enough skin out to feel cool and like I’m actually dressed for summer!

This white Bardot dress is perfect for anyone with arm hang-ups. It’s off the shoulder but has a pretty short sleeve that floats beautifully. It’s super pretty and it’s not too short. It’s true to size and because it’s white it will be lovely a cool in the sun (and look amazing against a tan!) you can spice it up with pops of colour. Think a bold lip or strong accessories.

#2 – Holiday Hang-Up – How to stop Chub Rub?

There are lots of things you can do from wearing shorts to using special creams etc. But let’s be honest. The best way is to wear a jumpsuit! It’s comfortable, easy to pack and always looks on-trend.

A jumpsuit is a perfect choice for when you’re off on an excursion on holiday or to pop on over a swimming costume when you head to the beach. I’ll be wearing this with my favourite tees underneath all summer. Sometimes prevention is better than cure and a jumpsuit will absolutely stop your chub rub on holiday.
