Yeah, I love fashion, trends, experimenting with new clothes and just clothes in general really. I mean, if you’re reading this you’ll probably already know that. But this year, I’m really trying to go back to basics with some of my wardrobe. I said SOME so don’t try to quote me on it when I’m next wearing pink animal print or something with sequins on! But the point is, in the aim of being more sustainable, getting more wear out of my clothes and just being more comfortable… I’m hitting refresh on my wardrobe and going back to basics when it comes to some of my new spring/summer pieces.
One of the biggest introductions into my wardrobe lately has been this khaki plus size dress from Very Curve. It’s one of those dresses that will last year, after year. The shirt dress will never go out of fashion. It’s just one of those set in stone pieces. SO this particular dress is made from linen, so it’s gorgeous and light to wear in the summer. I’m not going to lie, it’s one that needs a good iron every time it’s been in the washing machine and it does wrinkle during the day, but I don’t know… it kinda adds to the gorgeous relaxed vibe to it. Does that sound weird?
It’s a really relaxed style dress that will work with lot’s in my wardrobe. From jumpers over the top in the chilly evenings to wearing the dress open like a summer duster jacket – with a white tee and ripped jeans underneath. See… so much more than a dress!
Along with adding this forever dress to my wardrobe (not forgetting khaki is an all season shade too) I’ve also added a classic pair of Nikes to the shoe cupboard. These Nike SB Check Solarsoft Trainers not only look fresh but they are uber comfortable. They’re lightweight, with innovative underfoot cushioning so they feel fab to wear. I opted for the beige colour because it’s a perfect match with the khaki. Plus, they’ll basically match anything light throughout the summer. From skinny jeans to white shorts, these are basically the summer trainer… right? Sometimes, a basic pair of crepes are the best kind. I’ve definitely had much more wear out of my shoes so far this year because I’ve been opting for longer lasting footwear that’s better quality than I might have chosen before. It’s crazy how long a pair of trainers can last compared to shoes!
It can be really hard to find sustainable, affordable fashion when you’re plus size, but the least I can do is to introduce longer wearing pieces into my wardrobe that will get lot’s of wear over the years. This dress is exactly that – it’ll be around for a long time to come.
