My SheaMoisture, NYK1 and Soap & Glory Essentials

It’s been a decent 2019 summer so far, well, I mean we had two weeks of heat and then a load of rain. But two weeks is better than nothing. That being said, the heat waves we have had, have been very hot indeed. My skin has definitely benefited from some TLC this month as well as wearing less makeup than usual as I was leading up to a very big day, (more about that in another post!)

Here are my August beauty essentials and the products I’ve loved this month – This post includes press samples.

SheaMoisture African Water Mint & Ginger Detox Body Wash

I’m not going to lie, at first I wasn’t keen on the look of this shower gel. But once I gave it a shake and read the ingredients it all made sense! This powerful body wash includes certified organic Shea Butter, African Water Mint, Activated Charcoal and Ginger and Opuntia Extracts to help detoxify, soften and even skin tone. The mint is really exhilarating. It kind of takes your breath away in the shower and I love it.

A little goes a long way with this shower gel and it really is a treat in the shower. You can also put a capful in your bath and enjoy it that way. I also love that 10% of the companies sales are reinvested in the Ghanaian communities where the shea butter is sourced from. After giving this beauty a try it’ll definitely make you want to try the rest of the range.

NYK1 SKinforce – Exfoliating Black Bamboo Charcoal Peel

There’s obviously a Charcoal them going on here but I find everything I use that has it as an ingredient really works well for my skin. This charcoal peel didn’t let me down. It’s an intense clean that once pulled off left my skin seriously fresh. It was a little tough to pull off in some places, but then again my pain threshold is very, very low. Even after having two c sections!

This mask works by removing one layer of dead skin cells. That means it really gets down in the pores and clarifies the skin. You only need to use it once a week and there’s a chance it will totally get rid of your need for any other facial exfoliator. There’s enough in the 100ml tube to last 10 applications and the first application is when you’ll notice the difference straight away. Once you’ve spread it over your face you need to chill out for at least 20 minutes. I do mine when the boys are in bed or it will totally freak them out.

My tips for using this would be to avoid your eyebrows and hairline (use Vaseline if it helps), apply quite thin and once you’re done do your usual toning and moisturise straight away to see the instant glow.

Paradise Glossed – Soap & Glory

From BBQs to the nursery run, when the suns out I want my skin to be glowing. I want to be so glowy that it’s a fine line between glow and sweat. Paradise Glossed from Soap & Glory is a moisturising body oil that smells like a sweet fruit salad. It smells so good, I could actually like my own arm right now. It’s lightweight and isn’t greasy. A couple of sprays is all you need and you’re turned into a satin-soft beauty.

There’s no shimmer but it instantly hydrates the skin. Make sure you give it a shake beforehand or you’ll just end up with the fragrance and no oil. But honestly, this one wins for me because of the fragrance. It’s a mixture of coconut and almond – sweet and exotic. Excuse me while I just sit here sniffing my arm ha!

Image Skincare I Mask

The Image Skincare I Mask I tried this month was the hydrogel mask which is supposed to give instant hydration to the skin. It’s really cooling and soothing on the skin, which is great in hot weather or if you’ve had a little too much sun. It has a gel feel to it, which I really loved because it didn’t feel too wet while I was wearing it. It also means it can be moved about on the face without totally sliding off or moving out of place.

A blend of amino acids, aloe vera and antioxidant extracts means my skin was left feeling super hydrated, soft and really fresh. It’s perfect for the slightly harsher weather. One of my favourite sheet masks so far!
